Peak Peach Season and $1.49 Chicken Thighs at Meijer
July 22, 2026
It's peak summer, and the sales this week are reflecting that in some nice ways. Stone fruit is showing up across multiple stores, peaches and plums especially, and chicken is priced low enough that it's worth stocking the freezer if you have the room.
This Week's Best Deals
Chicken thighs at Meijer, $1.49/lb (family pack). That is a genuinely good price for bone-in thighs. They braise beautifully, hold up on the grill, and the family pack means you're getting enough to feed a crowd or freeze half for later.
Smithfield Fresh Pork Spareribs at ALDI, $1.99/lb. Spareribs at under two dollars a pound don't come around all the time. Low and slow in the oven or on a smoker, these will feed four people for very little money.
Boneless Pork Half Loin or Tenderloin at Kroger, BOGO mix and match. Pork loin is one of the most forgiving cuts to cook, and with a buy one get one deal you can take one home for dinner this week and slice the other into chops to freeze. That kind of flexibility is worth planning around.
Southern peaches at $1.29/lb (Meijer) and yellow peaches at $1.29/lb (Kroger). Both stores have peaches at the same price this week, which tells you the season is at its peak. Eat them fresh, slice them over yogurt, or make a simple cobbler. Don't overthink it.
Lidl bone-in chicken drumsticks, $1.39/lb. Hard to beat that price for fresh chicken. Season them simply and roast them, or throw them on the grill. A five-pound bag feeds a family for a couple of dollars.
Quick Breakfast & Lunch Ideas
Yogurt and peaches. Meijer has Oikos, Light and Fit, or Chobani yogurt on sale for $1.00 each, and peaches are $1.29/lb. Slice a ripe peach over a cup of Greek yogurt and you have a real breakfast for well under two dollars. Simple and worth doing.
Poke bowls from Meijer deli. Hissho and ACE pre-made poke bowls are $2 off this week. That makes for a fast and decent lunch without any cooking involved. Good option for a busy weekday when you don't want to think too hard about it.
Artesano bread and deli meat at Kroger. Artesano bread is $2.49 and Land O'Frost Premium lunch meat is $4.99. That covers the basics of a solid sandwich lunch for a few days. Nothing fancy, but good bread makes a real difference.
